Griffin Information Systems was formed in early 1993 as a software house and general IT services company.
The company quickly established an enviable reputation, and Griffin-built PCs were the subject of many favourable reviews in the computer magazines of the time.
In early 1995, Griffin started the process of designing and building an ISP for the East Midlands. On 1st October 1995, Griffin launched the UK’s first un-metered Dial-up service to subscribers of Nynex Cable TV in Derby. At the time, the service was built on 3 Linux servers, 6 incoming lines and a 64Kbit/s leased line to the Internet, although rapid growth saw the infrastructure grow dramatically in the months following the launch.

Since then Griffin have continued to innovate and has been behind many Internet firsts, including being the first European company to broadcast live music on the Internet and being the company behind the first Premier League football commentary on the Internet.
Griffin owns and manages its own national MPLS IP network, used solely for business use and guarantees the highest service levels in the industry. Griffin recently featured in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 and Sunday Times Tech Track 100 which recognises the UK’s fastest growing technology companies. Griffin is channel focused and is the leading supplier of managed broadband to some of the world's largest and smallest companies.
In terms of infrastructure, Griffin now has four Carrier Class Data Centres, hundreds of megabits of transit capacity and active peering relationships with most ISPs at LINX, MaNAP and XchangePoint.
Griffin continues to grow profitably, with very low churn thanks to a sustainable business plan, good people, continuous innovation and a quality network.
